A lucid and poetic story of erotic experiences of a woman from birth till 50 years of age told by the protagonist Joe, who diagnosed herself as nymphomaniac. On a cold winter morning in a by-street an aged lonely bachelor Seligman comes across semi-conscious Joe who has been beaten up. Taking her into his home, he tends to her wounds and asks himself a question: how has she come to live like this? Joe relates to Seligman the story of her tempestuous youth filled with parallel plots and unexpected digressions.
