This is a movie about Alexander Kaidanovsky, actor, screenwriter, director and friend of Andrei Tarkovsky. About an outstanding, mysterious artist, who was never fully appreciated during his lifetime, as is often the case in Russia. It is a homage and an attempt to understand this man. Nikita Mikhalkov, Krzystof Zanussi, Otar Iosseliani, Ildiko Enyedy are among the friends and colleagues who remember Kaidanovsky.
EVGENY TSYMBAL
Born in 1949 in Eisk. Graduated from the historical department of the Rostov-on-Don State University (1971), from the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Film Directors (1985, class of E.Ryazanov). Worked as assistant and second director to A.Tarkovsky, L.Shepitko, E.Ryazanov, N.Mikhalkov, E.Lotianu, K.Khudiakov. Author of numerous articles on history, history of cinema and literature. Winner of the Nika Awards, of national and international film festivals. His filmography includes “Requiem to Filet” (1985, doc.), “Attorney Sedov” (1988), “The Tale of the Unextinguished Moon” (1990), “Ordinary Bolshevism” (1999), “Dziga and His Brothers” (2002, doc.), “Red Zion” (2006, doc.), “Notebook from Burn Ghetto” (2010, doc.), etc.
