Post-modern romantic detective story, shot entirely in Taipei, Taiwan, consist of parallel storylines and pop-cultural quotations. In a nutshell it speaks about the collision in the family of a writer and her husband. But in reality it follows the police and ordinary citizens in situations which mirror everyday life, including shootouts and chaos. Scenes here are interwoven amongst the characters, who at first seem like they don't inhabit the same world. The use of stark imagery, shadows and light is very effective. The film, despite its title, is not about terrorism or the violence of a particular person. It pictures some of the problems faced by the main characters.

EDWARD YANG 1947–2007
Born in Shanghai, China. He has become one of the most talented international filmmakers of his generation, ranks among the leading artists of the Taiwanese New Wave, and one of the world's most brilliant auteurs. After studying engineering in Taiwan, he enrolled in the Electrical Engineering program at The University of Florida, receiving his Masters degree in 1974. Winner of prominent international film festivals. His filmography includes “In Our Time” (1982), “That Day, on the Beach” (1983), “Taipei Story” (1985), “A Brighter Summer Day” (1991), “A Confucian Confusion” (1994), “Mahjong” (1996, Honorable Mention of Alfred Bauer Award at the Berlin IFF), “Yi Yi: A One and a Two...” (2000, Prize for the Best Director at the Cannes IFF, NETPAC Award at the Karlovy Vary IFF and many other awards).
