MIKHAIL UGAROV

MIKHAIL UGAROV - playwright, scriptwriter, director. Born in 1956 in Arkhangelsk. Graduated from the drama department of the Gorky Literary Institute. Author of numerous well-known plays, directed performances staged at national theatres and abroad. Wrote scripts for a number of Russian films and TV series. Winner of the theatrical Golden Mask Award (twice), the TV award TEFI and many other professional awards. Artistic director of the Moscow “Theatre.Doc”, chairman of the artistic council of the A.Kazantsev and M.Roschin Centre for drama and directing. His directorial filmography includes TV series “Love in the Region” (2009) and “Churchill” (2010). “The Chekhov Brothers” is his feature debut.
