The story of Dmitry Konsovsky, an actor and film director repressed during the Stalin era. Upon graduating from Vachtangov Dramatic Studio he became a hope of Mezhrabpomfilm Studio (International Workers' Help). His life was very short but he never behaved like a coward. Among the people shown in the film and played notable parts in the events of the time are Yuri Olesha, Abram Room, Yuli Raizman, Erwin Piscator, Vsevolod Pudovkin, Vsevolod Meyerkhold and the prisoners of Ukhta-Pechersk GULAG camp.
