The story of Cain and Abel repeats itself nowadays under the skies of a remote village in Central Asia. The brothers Kerim and Aman work in a quarry excavating material for tombstones and monuments. The elder brother is after easy money which he can get drug-dealing in the town. The younger brother dreams of building a house and living in his home village with his girlfriend Saltanat. But she falls for Kerim and gives herself to him. The latter promptly dumps the girl and goes away. In the meantime the father of the brothers dies and the disgraced Saltanat intends to commit suicide. Aman buries his father himself and proposes to Saltanat. When Kerim returns, filled with envy and anger at his brother, he won’t resign himself to the new reality. His words and thoughts are enough to bring about the disaster…

Kyrgyz film director, producer, writer. Graduated from the department of Russian philology at the Kirghiz State University and the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Film Directors (class of V.Khotinenko, P.Finn, V.Fenchenko) in Moscow. Winner of the national award “Country” (Moscow, 2010), of the Pushkin Competition “Hello, Young Tribe…” (1999) and other awards. President of the Central Asian PEN-club, her poetry and prose have been translated into several languages. A producer and director at the “Aitysh Film”, author of several documentary and short films.
