Captain Marat is rather lucky and successful: he has a young beautiful wife, a high-speed seiner, an amicable crew. Even the fish goes into his nets – that’s what the whole town says. But once he finds himself in a storm and loses everything. Having been to prison for several years after his ship and crew perished, Marat returns to the small town. He learns that even the sea has receded, and what used to be a prosperous small fishing town has in no time turned into a salty desert. Marat decides to restore his ship and reach the sea. On the way to the sea he must find faith in himself, new friends, a new life and love.
BAKHTYAR KHUDOINAZAROV
Born in 1965 in Dushanbe. Graduated from the directing faculty of VGIK (1989, class of I.Talankin). Director, scriptwriter, producer, winner of the Nika Award, prizewinner of national and international film festivals. His full-length debit film “Bro” (1991) received awards in Mannheim, Turin, Freiburg and others. His second film “Kosh-Ba-Kosh” (1993) won award at the Venice IFF. His film “Lunar Daddy” (1999) won at Russian festival “Kinotavr” and received prizes in Tokyo, Bergen, Honfleur, Brussels. His next film “Chic: The Suit” (2003) also received the Grand Prix of “Kinotavr” and the Grand Prix of Tokyo IFF. He also directed “Tanker Tango” (2006).
